Gasparito Review

4/29/2025

Tucked away in a charming historic Aruban home, Gasparito Restaurant offers one of the most authentic and intimate dining experiences on the island. Located in the Noord district, this gem is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of Aruban culture, cuisine, and hospitality. From the moment you step through the doors of this beautifully preserved colonial building, you feel like you’ve entered a private island estate filled with rich heritage and warm island charm.

The setting is a feast for the eyes. Gasparito is housed in a traditional cunucu-style home with thick adobe walls, wooden shutters, and colorful local artwork adorning every corner. The restaurant doubles as an art gallery, featuring paintings and sculptures by Aruban artists, which not only enhances the ambiance but also gives diners a taste of the island’s creative spirit. The open-air patio with candlelit tables and gentle Caribbean breezes completes the scene—ideal for a romantic night out or a quiet dinner with friends.

But of course, the heart of Gasparito is its food, which centers on traditional Aruban and Caribbean cuisine with European influences. The menu is a thoughtful blend of local ingredients, island spices, and time-honored recipes. Popular dishes like Keshi Yena—a baked cheese stuffed with chicken or seafood—and the hearty goat stew are must-tries for those seeking a true taste of Aruba. Each dish is lovingly prepared and beautifully presented, showing off the chef’s commitment to authenticity and quality.

The service at Gasparito is another standout feature. The staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to share the history behind the dishes and the building itself. They make you feel not just like a guest but like a welcomed friend. The pace of service is relaxed, giving you time to savor every bite and enjoy the surroundings without feeling rushed.

The wine list, while not extensive, is well-curated, with selections that pair nicely with the bold, rustic flavors of the food. For dessert, don’t miss the homemade coconut flan or the indulgent ponche crema (a Caribbean take on eggnog). The portions are generous, and prices are fair considering the quality and the unique setting.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of dining at Gasparito is the feeling that you’re taking part in something special. It’s not a flashy tourist spot but rather a quiet, cultural dining experience that captures the essence of Aruba’s history and hospitality. It’s perfect for those looking to go beyond the typical beachside eateries and discover something more soulful and enriching.

Final Verdict:
Gasparito Restaurant is a standout destination for anyone seeking authentic Aruban cuisine in a beautiful, culturally rich setting. With its delicious food, artistic flair, and welcoming atmosphere, it offers a memorable dining experience that lingers long after the last bite. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a returning traveler to Aruba, Gasparito is a must-visit.

Fusion Restaurant Wine & Piano Bar – A Romantic Culinary Escape in Aruba
Located at the heart of the Alhambra Mall in the low-rise hotel district, Fusion Restaurant Wine & Piano Bar offers a distinctive blend of fine dining, exceptional wines, and live music that sets it apart from many of Aruba’s more casual beachfront eateries. This cozy, elegant restaurant delivers an experience that’s both intimate and sophisticated—perfect for a romantic dinner or a relaxed evening with friends.

From the moment you walk into Fusion, the ambiance speaks volumes. The dim lighting, rich wood furnishings, and softly playing live piano music immediately transport you to an upscale lounge somewhere in Europe, rather than a tropical Caribbean island. It's an unexpected—but welcome—change of pace from the sun-soaked beach bars and open-air grills.

The menu at Fusion is well-curated, featuring a variety of international dishes with a touch of Caribbean flair. Starters like the Beef Carpaccio and Seared Scallops are fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully plated. For mains, the Grilled Filet Mignon and the Pan-Seared Sea Bass stand out—each cooked to perfection and served with thoughtful accompaniments like creamy mashed potatoes or sautéed vegetables.

One of the restaurant’s key highlights is its extensive wine selection. With offerings from France, Italy, Chile, and the U.S., the staff is happy to provide recommendations and pairings to suit your palate. The cheese and charcuterie boards are a great way to sample a few vintages while enjoying live piano tunes in the background.
Service at Fusion is warm, attentive, and never rushed. The staff is knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list, and they create an environment that feels both professional and personal. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply want to indulge in a refined evening out, you’ll feel well taken care of from start to finish.

Desserts like the Chocolate Lava Cake and Crème Brûlée offer a sweet finale to the evening, especially when paired with a glass of port or dessert wine. Don’t be surprised if you linger longer than planned—Fusion has a way of making you want to stay and enjoy one more drink as the music carries into the night.

While Fusion may not boast a beachfront view, its charming atmosphere, quality cuisine, and exceptional service make it a must-visit for those seeking a refined dining experience in Aruba. It’s ideal for couples looking to escape the tourist bustle and indulge in something a little more upscale and romantic.

Final verdict: Fusion Restaurant Wine & Piano Bar is a hidden gem for fine dining lovers on the island. If you're looking for a place with ambiance, top-notch food, and an excellent wine list, this is the spot. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends.

Footprints Beach Grill Review

If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience in Aruba, Footprints Beach Grill is a must-visit. Tucked away on the shores in front of the Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort, this open-air restaurant offers a romantic, toes-in-the-sand dinner unlike any other. With just a few private tables set directly on Eagle Beach, it’s a perfect blend of intimacy, elegance, and the laid-back vibe you expect from island dining.

The atmosphere is the real star at Footprints. Dining under palapas with the sound of gentle waves and the warm Aruban breeze makes you feel like you've stepped into a postcard. The soft lighting and well-spaced seating provide just the right amount of privacy for couples, making it a top choice for honeymooners or special occasions. Time your reservation with the sunset, and you’re in for a truly magical evening.

The food at Footprints Beach Grill lives up to the setting. The menu is a fixed four-course experience that typically includes a starter, soup or salad, a choice of main course, and dessert. During our visit, the appetizer was a tender grilled shrimp skewer with a sweet chili glaze—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The salad course came next, crisp and vibrant with a tropical twist.

For the main course, the grilled tenderloin and Caribbean lobster tail combo was the standout. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, juicy and well-seasoned, while the lobster tail had just the right touch of char and sweetness. Everything was served hot and fresh, with attention to presentation. Vegetarians and pescatarians also have great options, and the staff is happy to accommodate dietary needs when possible.
Dessert was a decadent chocolate lava cake served with vanilla ice cream—rich, gooey, and the perfect ending to a beachside meal.

The service at Footprints is warm, professional, and unhurried. The staff lets you enjoy the moment but checks in at all the right times. Their knowledge of the menu and wine pairings was impressive, and they truly go the extra mile to make guests feel special.
Prices are on the higher side, which is expected for a beachfront, reservation-only dining experience, but the ambiance, service, and quality of the food make it worth every penny. It’s not just a meal—it’s a memory.

Final Verdict:

Footprints Beach Grill is a quintessential Aruban experience. It offers fine dining without being stuffy, romance without pretense, and a front-row seat to some of the most beautiful sunsets you’ll ever see. Whether it’s your first trip to Aruba or your tenth, Footprints belongs on your list.

The Flying Fishbone – A Magical Dining Experience in Aruba
If you’re searching for a dining experience in Aruba that blends gourmet cuisine with unforgettable ambiance, The Flying Fishbone in Savaneta is an absolute must-visit. Located on the quieter, more tranquil side of the island, this seaside gem offers more than just a meal—it provides a memorable, romantic, and uniquely Aruban experience that stays with you long after the final bite.

Oceanfront Dining Like No Other
What sets The Flying Fishbone apart is its "feet-in-the-water" concept. Some of the tables are actually placed in the shallow surf, allowing you to dine with your feet in the warm Caribbean Sea as the sun sets over the horizon. The view is mesmerizing, and the setting sun paints the sky in oranges and pinks, creating the perfect backdrop for a romantic dinner or special celebration. There’s truly nothing like sipping a glass of wine with the ocean literally at your toes.

An Upscale Seafood-Focused Menu
The menu leans heavily into seafood and fine cuts of meat, with enough variety to satisfy every palate. The lobster bisque is rich and velvety, a perfect starter. For entrées, the surf and turf—a perfectly cooked filet mignon paired with grilled Caribbean lobster—is a showstopper. The seafood pasta, loaded with mussels, shrimp, scallops, and calamari, is also a standout, with just the right touch of spice and a creamy sauce that doesn’t overpower the fresh flavors.

Vegetarian options are somewhat limited, but the kitchen is accommodating and can often prepare off-menu dishes upon request. The dessert menu, featuring tropical touches like mango mousse and coconut panna cotta, ends the meal on a sweet, island-inspired note.

Impeccable Service
The service at The Flying Fishbone is attentive without being intrusive. The staff is well-versed in the menu, knowledgeable about wine pairings, and genuinely eager to make your evening special. From the moment you arrive to the final farewell, the hospitality is warm and polished.

Things to Know Before You Go
Reservations are highly recommended—especially if you want a table right in the water. The restaurant is located in Savaneta, which is about a 30-minute drive from the Palm Beach/High-Rise hotel area, so plan accordingly. It’s worth every minute of the drive for this kind of experience.  Also, bring a light sweater if you're dining later in the evening, as it can get breezy right on the shore.

Final Thoughts
The Flying Fishbone isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience that blends culinary excellence with one-of-a-kind ambiance. Whether you're celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or simply the joy of being in paradise, it delivers on all fronts. It’s a perfect blend of island charm and upscale elegance, and it's no surprise it's one of Aruba’s most beloved dining destinations.
