Where the action is


Many vacationers do not like the beach. They prefer to be close to the action and the Palmita Hostel meets that need. Nestled in the heart of Oranjestad, the Palmita Hostel keeps you close to the ongoing and vibrant nightlife of the city.


However, that does not mean that you are far from the daytime action either. Palm, Eagle, and Manchebo Beaches are just under 10 minutes away by car. Then if you prefer walking, the Renaissance Mall is a mere 26-minute walk from the hostel.


Or if you came for the gambling action, the Hyatt Regency Casino is only a 6-minute drive away. This hostel makes sure you are always near the action even though you are not that close to the ocean.


A hostel yet still a hotel


This unique concept marries the hotel's comfort with the hostel economy. Not only can you save money on the room rates, but you also get comfortable rooms with bathrooms, furnished patios, and dining rooms.


That is the hotel side of this hostel. The hostel side provides a communal kitchen, microwave, and limited housekeeping. But this combination works because your room costs are lower.


Not to be outdone by the competition, the Palmita Hostel also has a nice pool when you are in the mood for a morning or evening swim. It may not be a luxurious vacation spot but it is comfortable and affordable.


Check-in time starts at 4 pm and goes to 11 pm. If you are arriving outside of those times, make sure to contact the hotel management to make proper arrangements


Cash is not king


If you are looking for a quaint hotel that helps cut down on your credit card charges, this is not the place to stay. Cash is not accepted here and only credit cards can be used to cover the different fees you may ring up.


Those fees can range from an extra guest to receiving a continental breakfast in the morning. Make sure to check the posted list of fees before making your reservation.


Also, debit cards are reported to be the same as cash- not accepted at this hotel hostel. Just double-check when communicating with the hotel. Being prepared is the best way to avoid spoiling your stay.


The rooms


There are 18 rooms available at the Palmita and occupancy ranges between 2 and 6 guests at one time. Make sure you know how many will be in your party before reserving your room. There is at least one with a king-size bed but that room only allows for 2 people to occupy it.


If you do not mind sleeping in bunk beds, then the other rooms allow for more guests to be in the same room.

The Palmita Hotel Hostel is a unique place to stay and if you want to save on the cost of a room, this is the place to do it. While you are not on the beach, you are still close to the action.
